Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI), one of the world’s leading active investment managers, has announced the appointment of Christian Schulz as its new Chief Economist. This results from a press release. He will assume the role on 1 July 2025 and will be based in Frankfurt.

In this position, Schulz will lead AllianzGI’s Global Economics & Strategy team, which provides macroeconomic research and market insights to support the firm’s investment strategies. He will also contribute to the firm’s thought leadership and client communications on economic topics.

Schulz joins from Citigroup, where he most recently served as Deputy Chief European Economist. He has also worked at the European Central Bank, Berenberg, and The Boston Consulting Group. With a strong academic background and broad international experience, Schulz is known for combining long-term global economic forecasting with short-term data analysis, including the application of AI tools.

Michael Krautzberger, CIO Public Markets at AllianzGI, said: “Christian brings a rare mix of strategic foresight and analytical rigor. His deep understanding of European and global markets, along with his collaborative mindset, make him an ideal fit for our global investment culture.”

With this appointment, AllianzGI strengthens its reputation as a research-driven investment partner focused on anticipating and navigating macroeconomic trends.
